bornao: Sponenberg and Rothschild describe a gene they name I for Intense that dilutes only phaeomelanin. Diluted phaeomelanin colors are sometimes called cream, buff, apricot, lemon, etc. Such a gene, undoubtedly exists. However this gene has not yet been identified or even mapped in the dog.
